Online Prescription

You can get medications using an online prescription. Medications should be picked up in a conventional pharmacy. To get an online prescription, the patient must consult a doctor. After examination, the physician writes out a prescription in the electronic health system. An email with a prescription number and a secure code for receiving drugs is sent to the patient’s number indicated in the agreement. Visit a conventional drugstore and a pharmacist will collect your order.

If you buy meds online, you should send an online prescription over the email. The pharmacist will estimate it and accept your order. The order is ordinarily processed and shipped within 24 hours.

There is one way to get an online prescription. It is telehealth or telemedicine, a very popular option in the United States of America.

What is telemedicine?

In the United States, telemedicine refers to the audio and visual communication of a patient with a physician in real-time. There is another term – telehealth. It includes phone calls, remote monitoring of patients, storage and transmission of medical images (obtaining photographic images and video information that the doctor examines later).

However, while Medicare still has limited reimbursement, today 48 states together with Washington are reimbursing patients for certain types of telemedicine through the US Medicaid low-income federal insurance program. Moreover, over 20 states require private insurance companies to compensate for telemedicine costs. States may limit this reimbursement based on a number of parameters, such as the type of medical institution and patient, technology format, location, and type of service. In about half of the states, reimbursement through Medicare and Medicaid is expanded by not registering the patient’s place of residence and type of insurance policy.

Why is it convenient?

The main goal of telemedicine is the movement of information, not the movement of patients. The patient does not need to go anywhere, wait for an appointment, stand in line, contact with other patients. He can get a consultation at home at a convenient time. The doctor, in turn, is also comfortable – there is no need to go to the patient. This means that more patients can be examined for the same working time.

The experience of other countries shows that telemedicine works effectively if there is a large distance between the patient and the doctor, which will take a considerable amount of time to overcome. Telemedicine removes this distance and even boundaries. For example, a doctor from America can consult and record a patient’s condition in Europe. All you need is access to the Internet.

With the help of telemedicine, you can reduce the number of trips to the doctor. For example, the first appointment with a family doctor can be done online. The doctor will collect the symptoms, send them for tests and an additional examination and you can come in person already at the second appointment. The patient comes to the first appointment, the doctor examines him, sends him for tests. Already with the results, the patient goes online to get in touch, where he receives the treatment regimen and prescription.
